A visit to the dentist is already an uncomfortable and, at times, painful experience. Needles prod. Drills whine. Water sprays. It’s why Cleveland Clinic estimated that 36% of people have “dentophobia,” a fear of the dentist. Yet, while dental procedures can stoke fear in the average person, it’s the bills that come afterward that can be the true shock.
Finding a dental insurance plan that gives you the coverage you need can save you money, often with free preventative care and significantly reduced costs for fillings, extractions, root canals and crowns.
Methodology
To find the best dental insurance plans, we analyzed 26 plans from eight insurance companies. We then gathered data across 10 categories, resulting in 624 data points pulled from more than a dozen sources and bespoke scoring formulas. Winners are chosen based on their overall scores and our editorial judgment. Read our full methodology here.
